Question 1

What's the difference between AA and AAA?

Accepted Answer

For normal text AA requires 4.5:1 and AAA 7:1. Above 18pt, or 14pt bold, the threshold drops to 3:1. Most projects target AA; AAA is usually a public-sector requirement.

Question 2

Do icons and borders have a rule too?

Accepted Answer

Yes: meaningful interface components and graphics need 3:1. Purely decorative lines are exempt.
